Powwow COVID-19 Protocol
The safety and well-being of our community are of the utmost importance. As we gather to celebrate and honor our Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ relatives, we ask everyone to consider the following COVID-19 protocols:
Masks
-
Masks are not mandated but are strongly encouraged to protect yourself and your relatives.
-
We encourage the use of masks, especially in crowded or indoor areas, to help safeguard our elders, immunocompromised community members, and others at higher risk.
-
A limited number of masks will be available at designated stations throughout the venue for those who wish to use them. We encourage you to bring your own mask if possible.
Health and Wellness
-
If you feel unwell, experience symptoms of COVID-19, or have recently tested positive, we kindly ask that you refrain from attending the event to protect our community.
-
Maintain physical distance whenever possible, particularly during high-traffic moments such as food lines and dancer/drum registration. Our Arena Director will do their best to space out dancers during Grand Entry
Protect Your Relatives
-
In the spirit of “protecting our relatives,” let’s come together with mutual respect and care for one another.
-
Our gathering is a time for healing, connection, and celebration. Let’s work collectively to ensure it remains a safe space for everyone.
Hydration & Other Tips
-
Giant Water dispensers will be available please bring your own reusable water bottles.
-
The arena and Festival Pavilion can become loud with drums and singers - Please bring protective ear ware like earplugs or headphones for those with sound sensitivities
-
The Festival Pavilion is large and the floor is concrete- please wear comfortable, supportive walking shoes and be prepared to travel distances from vehicles and within the space.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our community safe and healthy. We look forward to celebrating with you!
